Is Tesla setting up shop in the UAE?

Elon Musk’s electric car company may be set to open its first service centre in the region

In a country filled with gas-guzzling supercars, it often feels like electric cars get the short end of the stick.

Well, no more! Via a series of job listings on Tesla’s website, it appears that Tesla is looking to staff up for positions in Dubai including a Service Technician, Service Advisor and Service Manager.

This tends to point more towards a service-driven initiative as all three roles are technical in nature, therefore there’s no direct evidence of the launch of a sales division, yet.

It is not uncommon to see an imported Tesla Model S zipping about the highways of Dubai, so it will be interesting to see whether this is a move from the progessive car company to help service that existing customer base or a fully fledged rollout in the country.

An official launch is reportedly planned for 13 February with CEO Elon Musk expected to be in attendance as he will be in Dubai for the fifth edition of the World Government Summit.

We have reached out to Tesla for further comment and will update this story once we know more.
