ABOUT SMARTPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2016
Who said you need a multi-thousand dollar camera and an bevy of lights and equipment to nail that perfect shot?
Sure, that may be the arena of the professional photographer but for the rest of us, we have a high-powered snapper right in our back pocket. Armed with powerful imagining sensors and a whole range of apps and features, smartphones have the power to turn your digital images into masterpieces.
Of course it isn’t just the tools that are important, a keen eye and a strong sense of framing are necessary when forever capturing moments in time.
Which is why we’re giving you the chance to show off your talents. Whether you’re an avid smartphone photographer or just like to snap a few photos on weekends, we just know that you have at least one awesome shot sitting on your device that you’re dying to share with the world.
So, let us challenge you: from today until 11:59pm on Saturday 29 October 2016, take a photo - anywhere in the GCC - with your smartphone and submit it to one of the following categories:
All entries will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges (and the Stuff team who spend a LOT of time snapping smartphone photos) on everything from composition to subject matter. We will then put together a shortlist of the best entries from each category and on Tuesday 1 November 2016 open the voting up to you, our dear readers, to let you choose which photo is the best of the lot.
Did we mention there will be prizes? Not only will winning earn you bragging rights, there will also be a slew of goodies up for grabs for our most accomplished snappers.
Not least of which will be the new Huawei Nova Plus – a gorgeously designed 5.5in phablet with a Full HD 1080p screen and a 16MP sensor with OIS that will no doubt become the primary snapper in your smartphone photography arsenal.
Click here to see the full list of prize packages up for grabs and don’t worry, voting will have its privileges, too. Every vote cast will go into the running to also win a Huawei Nova Plus so even if you don’t come away with the grand prize, you still stand a chance to walk away with an awesome new smartphone.
The competition is now closed. Thanks to all who submitted their smartphone photos - you can check out the winning photography here.
