The Infinix Zero 5 is a budget smartphone with flagship aspirations

Dual rear snappers and a massive battery make this budget blower a contender

What features set the very top of the smartphone pack apart from lesser handsets? A big screen, dual rear cameras, ample amounts of RAM and a massive battery – well, the Infinix Zero 5 has all of that and costs a fraction of the price of a Huawei Mate 10 Pro or an iPhone X.

With a 5.98in Full HD panel (along with some sizeable top and bottom bezels), the Zero 5 is decidedly in phablet territory. Thankfully, the sleek design of its aluminium finish (Bordeaux Red model pictured) makes it feel premium in the hand and we love the black stripe across the camera. A nice design touch.

On the rear above the fingerprint sensor sits a dual-camera setup of 13MP + 12MP snappers which is mightily impressive for a phone at this end of the range. On the front is a similarly impressive 16MP camera for ultra-detailed selfies.

Of course, this is still only a budget phone which means power-wise it’s rocking a 2.6GHz Helio octacore processor –  a far cry from the Snapdragons and Kirins of more expensive handsets. However, Infinix have paired it with 6GB of RAM so it should be able to whizz around Android N with relative ease. Combine that with a huge 4350mAh battery that should get you through a day and then some, and the Zero 5 makes a strong case for why you don’t need to spend a ton of cash to get top-tier smartphone specs.

The Infinix Zero 5 is available now in the UAE exclusively via starting at US$270 for the 64GB model and US$325 for 128GB.
