That’s it folks, it seems we’ve finally reached Peak Narcissism.

This morning at The Palace Downtown hotel in Dubai, Chinese smartphone manufacturing giant Huawei officially broke the Guinness World Record for “the most selfies taken with different people in three minutes”.

Yes, there’s a record for that, apparently.

The offical Guinness guidelines required that the image was taken using a smartphone or digital camera in under 180 seconds. For their attempt, Huawei gathered 160 willing participants and used the 8MP front snapper in their flagship Mate 9 smartphone. We gave the phone a glowing review – but are a little baffled as to why the dual-lens rear camera that was co-engineered with Leica wasn’t used to capture the record breaking shot.

Huawei say they plan on attempting to break several other records in 2017 but are staying tight-lipped for the moment on exactly which ones. Can we suggest, “Smartphone with 10-day battery life” or “Lowest-priced Android flagship phone ever”?

Previous record holders have included Donnie Whalberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Who knew?
