Following on from announcements by LG and Sony this week, Huawei has beaten both of its competitors out of the gate.
The Chinese electronics giant announced at an event earlier today in Dubai that its flagship P10 and P10 Plus smartphones will be hitting UAE store shelves as early this Thursday, 13 April.
Similarly to the LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium, both Huawei handsets were announced to much fanfare earlier this year at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
Both the P10 and P10 Plus have Huawei’s own powerful Kirin 960 processor driving them, along with a revamped EMUI 5.1 Android skin and a lightning-fast fingerprint sensor on the front.
As we noted in our review of the P10, we loved the phone’s dual-camera setup that combines a 12MP colour sensor and 20MP monochrome sensor (alongside some optical smarts from proper-camera boffins Leica) to pull of some incredibly stunning shots.
While we haven’t had more than a few minutes hands-on time with the P10 Plus’ camera, it does get the added bonus of f/1.8 Leica glass which should be an improvement over the regular P10’s f/2.2 aperture.
Other differences between the handsets include a 3750mAh battery on the 5.5in P10 Plus compared to 3200mAh on the P10 with a display measuring 5.1in.
Both handsets will be available locally in Dazzling Gold, Graphite Black, and, the most striking of all three options, Dazzling Blue.
The P10 will be available locally at a bargain rate of US$520, severely undercutting both the LG G6 (US$710) and Samsung Galaxy S8 (US$760). The price of the P10 Plus will be more inline with the competition, starting from US$760.
Both phones will be on sale across the UAE from 13 April.
