Excitement for the release of The Last Jedi has hit fever pitch and with the film only a month out Lenovo is officially jumping on the hype train, giving fans the chance to step into the shoes of a Jedi and battle it out via its new augmented reality headset.

Officially launching in the UAE next week, the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges bundle consists of a Lenovo Mirage AR headset that, similar to Samsung’s Gear VR, uses a compatible smartphone to power its virtual lightsabre-wielding experience.

That’s right, as well as the headset itself the kit includes a lightsabre controller and tracking beacon that, combined with a clever one-way mirror built into the headset, projects the action into your living room rather than boxing you off into a virtual world. That means you can take part in epic duels with Kylo Ren and Darth Vader, whilst simultaneously avoiding treading on the cat.

There’s also a playable version of Holochess from the classic scene in A New Hope for those less inclined to swing their arms around wildly in the dark.

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges will be available now in the UAE at a reduced price of US$245.
