Dell Latitude 10 – build and specs
For a tablet that’s being sold as the most secure business tablet ever to grace an office this 10.5mm thin slice of 725g lightness certainly doesn’t remind us of those clunky business versions of laptops companies usually dole out.
The 10.1in Gorilla Glass protected HD (1366×768) tablet starts up rapidly, plus swiping and multitasking are smooth thanks to the new Intel Clover Trail Atom SoC dual-core processor.
Dell Latitude 10 – connectivity
Dell’s packed in plenty of ports – the Latitude 10 sports full USB as well as a mini-HDMI, an SD expansion slot, and of course the old micro USB charging port. But it does’t end there – the Latitude 10 can slot into a dock that adds four USB ports, an RJ45, full-fat HDMI, plus audio-out – all while charging your tablet. So you can hook up your tablet to a mouse and keyboard for a seamless tablet-to-desktop Windows 8 experience.
Dell Latitude 10 – removable battery
Dell’s helpfully packed a removable battery into Latitude 10 – it comes with a choice of a 2 cell or 4 cell juice box, but you can always buy spares and swap them out easily – brilliant. And the 128GB storage, expandable by SD, should be enough to negate any upgrade needs. It really does feel like a full PC crammed into a lithe tablet.
Dell’s also ramped up the security on the Latitude 10, with Intel Platform Trust Technology, as well as features like encryption, remote wiping, an optional fingerprint reader and smart card reader. Not that we can test any of that here without our trusty hacking kit. Is this Dell’s play for the tablet business security position BlackBerry holds in phones?
