The new Apple iPhone 5 camera can now take panoramic shots

Camera boffs will be pleased to know that the iPhone 5‘s camera is a bit better than the snapper of its predecessor, despite using the same 8MP Sony Exmor R sensor as the iPhone 4s.
Apple did have a fiddle with it though, making the camera unit 25 per cent thinner than the previous generation, adding a sapphire crystal cover to make it a bit hardier and including a smart filter and dynamic low light mode for better night-time shots.
Apple also included a new panorama mode, that automagically stitches together several shots to make gloriously wide-angle photos.
On the video side, there’s better image stabilisation – it still takes 1080p footage – and face detection for up to 10 people at once. You can also take still shots as you record video, a bit like the One X (what do you think of that one, eh HTC?). The front-facing camera can now capture 720p HD video for FaceTime.
