The Apple iPhone 5 will be available in the UAE on September 23rd, if you can afford it…
The iPhone 5 release date has been set for September 21st in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Notice anyone left off that list? Yup, the UAE won’t be getting a sniff of the iPhone 5 until late November/early December. Officially, that is.
Unofficially, you can expect iPhone 5 units to appear in the UAE as early as September 23rd, just two days after the worldwide launch. Thanks to the UAE’s fantastically efficient grey market, online retailers will be clicking that pre-order button (that goes live in the countries above on September 14th) faster than ATM’s can dispense your cash, and you’re going to need a lot of it.
Traditionally, new iPhone‘s have gone for as much as three times the worldwide asking price in the region. That means you can expect the iPhone 5 to sell for as much as US$1,500 (Dhs5,500).
The iPhone 4S – the highest model available officially in the region – currently goes for US$600 (Dhs2,199) on Apple‘s official store.
We expect the iPhone 5 – when it finally appears in the region – to retail for US$710 (Dhs2,599).
So what does all that money get you? Check out the iPhone 5 here
