Summer rain scuppering your outdoor plans? Never mind: these new games mean you never leave to leave your house – or your sofa for that matter…

lego batman 2

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

PS3/Vita/3DS/Wii/DS/360/PC, 22 June
Available for pretty much every gaming device around, the sequel to Lego Batman brings a plethora of new characters into play: aside from Batman and Robin, there’s also Superman, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, The Flash and a host of baddies to fight. It’s the first Lego game to feature talking characters (yes!) – as well as the all ages-friendly action-adventure-puzzler gameplay we’ve come to know and love from the series.

civ 5 gods and kings

Civilization 5: Gods & Kings

PC, 22 June
This add-on will bring new life to Civilization 5 – albeit in a broad, unfocussed way rather than by expanding the time-devouring strategy game in one particular area. As the name suggests, religion is now a major concern and “Faith” is a new and valuable resource for you to manage – but you also get espionage, improved AI and combat, a load of new units and technologies and five new civilisations for you to play as.

spec ops the line

Spec Ops: The Line

PS3/360/PC, 29 June
A third-person cover-based shooter set in a near-future Dubai ravaged by horrendous sandstorms, Spec Ops: The Line promises to present you with all kinds of tough moral choices (where have we heard this before?) as your three-man Delta Force squad searches the city for an MIA army colonel. Think Heart of Darkness in the Arabian desert (and it’s definitely getting banned).

walking dead episode 2

The Walking Dead: Episode 2

iOS/Mac/PS3/360/PC, June
We were big fans of the first episode of The Walking Dead: The Game, which adapts the zombie apocalypse TV series into an enjoyable Monkey Island-style point-and-click adventure. The second part, dubbed “Starved For Help”, is due for release in the latter part of June – and we can’t wait to get back to bludgeoning walkers and seeing where Telltale Games’ story goes next.

skyrim dawnguard

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard

360 (PS3/PC later), June
If you’ve already put countless hours into Skyrim, slaying multiple dragons, becoming the realm’s deadliest assassin or simply picking flowers to make kick-ass potions, you may be a tad bored by now. But Dawnguard, Bethesda’s first major piece of DLC, is coming to rejuvenate the open world RPG by adding a major new quest (vampire-related, by the looks of it) along with crossbows, horseback combat and new shouts and spells. It’ll be released on Xbox 360 first, costing 1600 MS Points – and you can expect it on PS3 and PC later in the year.
