Virgin Galactic set to land in Abu Dhabi spaceport
Richard Branson’s Abu Dhabi-backed Virgin Galactic has announced plans to set up a spaceport in the UAE capital. The move would allow would-be space travelers to fly to the USA from Abu Dhabi in just one hour.
Virgin Galactic has appointed Steve Landeen as the driving force behind the establishment of Spaceport UAE. Landeene is a key member of Spaceport America, which is based in New Mexico.
Earlier this year, Virgin Galactic received its 500th customer deposit, which at US$200,000 a ticket, means it can expect over US$100 million when the space service launches next year.
