New stream-friendly Sony wireless speakers

Sony wireless speakers

In a move that should have Sonos taking nervous glances over its shoulder, Sony has today announced three new wireless speakers.

The NS510, NS410 and NS310 are self-contained speaker units that connect to your wi-fi network and stream via DLNA, Airplay and the Music Unlimited streaming service contained within the newly rebranded Sony Entertainment Network.

Using Sony’s Android or iOS control app you can ‘throw’ or stream tracks to any of the wireless speakers scattered around your house. You can stream different songs to different units simultaneously, or use party mode to synchronise a whole multi-room system.

Of the three speakers it’s the NS510 that we’re most excited about, partly because of its lovely, fan-like shell, partly because it’s got a five-hour battery built-in, and partly because we’ve just had a listen to it in Sony’s Tokyo office and it sounds rather good.

All three should hit UAE shores in early Summer, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
