Microsoft Xbox 720 is code named Durango

Although Microsoft hasn’t yet named the Xbox 720 – see, we’ve named it already – it has given it a code name: Durango. This is according to Kotaku which cites multiple sources.

The code name fits in with Microsoft’s history of prototype Xbox names. The code name for Kinect, for example, was Natal – a city in Brazil. Durango is a similarly warm part of the Americas – one of Mexico’s states.

Whatever the name, the tech packed inside the Xbox Durango has us excited – rumoured specs include a super graphics card, a new Kinect 2, a Blu-ray drive, stunning 3D enhanced graphics, and even a tablet-like controller.

When this treasure trove of treats is going to wash up on our sandy shores is another matter though – we could be waiting until 2013 for Durango.
