New Tesla Model X electric car announced

The Tesla Model X electric car has just been unveiled and it looks like electric cars are going the way of gadgets with dual-cores, expect this beast has a dual-engine – and it is fast.
Tesla first made the stunning Tesla Roadster sports car which, using an electric engine the size of a melon could propel from 0-60mph in just 3.9s and manage a huge 245 miles on a charge. Then there was the Telsa Model S for the more executive driver, spoting four doors and luxury stylings. It has cool touches like automatically retracting door handles that sit flush with the body until you get close, and a 17in tablet dashboard, plus a 300 mile range with 0-60mph in 5.6s. Today Tesla unveiled the Tesla Model X.
The Model X sports two independent electric engines, one in the engine bay and the other on the rear axle, meaning four wheel drive with an engine for front and another for back – resulting in a 0-60mph time of just 4.4s. There will also be a two-wheel drive version but less details were revealed. The Model X is heavier than the Model S, suggesting greater luxury but with the same performance, although there will be a 10 percent reduction in range (probably to about 270 miles on the best battery pack option).
As you can see from the teaser image the Model X will feature two gull-wing doors presumably to give it that futuristic DeLorean feel. The next futuristic trait is three rows of seating, meaning it can seat seven adults with storage for bags in the front and back. Plsu you can even stand up in the roomy beauty – although doing that at 100mph isn’t recommended.
The Model X is set for a 2015 release and will cost around US$50,000. You can reserve yours at Tesla today.
