BlackBerry PlayBook to run Android apps

There was a rumour knocking around the interweb, that BlackBerry’s PlayBook would play nicely with Android apps. Well, it’s rumour no more.

The tablet will run Java and Android apps using a run-time environment. Given the ongoing limitations of BlackBerry’s App World, that’s no bad thing, although developers will have to repackage their apps and have them sold through BB’s own online market. Still, good times for those shunning today’s iPad 2 launch to wait for alternative fruit-based tabletry.

I have upgraded and have had a quick look to find out the procedure for installing what’s necessary to run Android apps… how come everyone is reporting that the playbook runs android but very few are reporting how to actually do that… and the ones that are are pretty cryptic instructions?
