Apple will charge for iPad iOS 4 upgrade
Our spy-like chums at Stuff UK have gotten wind of Apple’s rather nefarious (to some) plans to charge for iPad updates. Since iOS 4 was rolled out to later-model iPhones, the iPod Touch and of course, the iPhone 4, iPad owners have had to wait patiently for the right to multitask.
But according to some trusted developers, when iOS 4 does become available for your trusty tablet this autumn you’ll have to pay for it.
There’s no details on how much Apple will charge tablet-owners for the right to upgrade, and Apple has refused our pleas to comment (Apple doesn’t comment on rumours and speculation). That said, the top secret plans to charge were whispered to the team in the UK by developers working on a future iPad app.
Asked how sure they were about the forthcoming iOS 4 charge, our source replied, “Definite.”
This cash-hungry tactic isn’t new to Apple, it has previously charged iPod Touch users for upgrades.
What do you think? Will you pay for your iPad’s upgrade? Or will you be chuckin’ it out of spite? Let us know in the comments below.
