Toshiba Libretto W100 dual-screen
Toshiba sure knows how to celebrate birthdays. As part of its 25th anniversary of Tosh’s laptop business, the tech-maker has unveiled this killer dual-screened laptop concept.
It’s just a concept for now, but the unit Toshiba has been flashing around looks very finished. Good thing too, as Tosh says the W100 dual-screen (or dual-tablet?) is set to go on sale this summer (supposedly for US$1100) but in limited numbers. Obvious specifications aside (it runs two 7in multi-touch capacitive displays) it will pack a 1024×600-pixel resolution, with a virtual keyboard and haptic feedback.
Under the hood sits an Intel Pentium U5400 chipset, with 1.2GHz and 2GB of DDR3 memory (not bad for the little guy, not bad at all). It will use a 64GB SSD drive for faster booting, with a 1MP webcam, Bluetooth, MicroSD card, Wi-Fi and a USB port. It runs an 8-cell battery (which should give it battery time in the double digits) and runs Windows 7.
Most tablet PCs (let alone dual-screens) are rather portly in size, however the Libretto is pretty portable and weighs just 800g.
If this is Tosh’s standard after 25 years – we can’t wait to see what its got for lucky number 30.
More info as it comes in, and be sure to check out the intro video while you wait.
